Still Kickin’

Day two of the fringe has come to a close and we’re still rolling on. Yesterday was much smoother, but the general fringe craziness was still floating in the air. ANNA THE SLUT AND THE ALMOST CHOSEN ONE was a sell out show last night and tons of other fringe patrons were out enjoying theatre.

Yesterday I checked out IN REHEARSAL which was a one woman show written and performed by Alison Vodnoy. She told shared her trials and tribulations with dating while acting as her main character, Akiva, as well as every other love interest she had encountered. She played nearly a dozen characters and she played them all very well. She did a fantastic job fusing dance with character acting, and I was very impressed with her performance.

As I was leaving SCPA, I literally got pushed up the stairs and became a student at the “True Body University.” This was a unique piece of performance art. The actors were woman ranging in ages from about seven to their forties. This performance took place in three different classrooms where all of the students learned to examine the female body in physical and spiritual ways. BODY LANGUAGE: A RADICAL TRUTH involved a lot of audience participation, and there were pieces of the performance that genuinely had me believing the situations at hand. This was a one of a kind experience and I am definitely glad that I stumbled blindly into the performance.

Tonight is another great opportunity to get out and see some shows! Come be a part of the fifth annual Cincinatti fringe festival!
