Burning Man Redux by Tommy Nugent

I can’t get enough of eating razor blades. I’m not skilled enough to try it myself, but a Tommy Nugent show isn’t one without a few intense moments. This show starts off setting you at ease and closes with a big warm hug.

Yea, I am bullshitting you, but I don’t want to give everything away.

Burning Man Redux is a personal story of how a man becomes a Pentecostal youth minister, loses his faith, finds a sense of nihilism, then finds something else. On the way you journey through Tommy’s early religious upbringing in a very irreverent way. If you are a fundamentalist and are coming to the Fringe Festival, first let me say “Wow, good for you.” Second let me say that you may not like the honesty Tommy exposes by pulling the curtain back on life in the Baptist and Pentecostal churches. Everyone else will love that honesty, it is authentic.

After the loss of his faith and after some time of spinning around in a world very opposite of his church days, Tommy found himself at the Burning Man festival in Nevada. His take on a shining example of peaceful living with a free spirit tone and hedonistic atmosphere from the perspective of a man out to see the world was refreshing. It was also charming. You are part of his story just by being in the audience.

His return trip to Burning Man last year brings Tommy around to a new center. He has grown forward from his past and demonstrates a new warmth and a spirit. I will tell you that it is enough. Even if you are selfish, you will understand why it is enough. You will know why going back to Burning Man is what Tommy Nugent needed to do and if you have ever struggled with an early-life crisis of what is out there, his story gives you a perspective that you can learn from, and figure out yourself, your own way.
